Salon Policies

Vaccinations

All dogs receiving services at Paws and Relax must be current on their Rabies vaccine. If your pet is exempt from the rabies vaccination due to medical reasons you may be asked to provide a note from your veterinarian to waive this policy.  The Bordetella vaccination is recommended, but not required.

Health Status

At the beginning of every appointment you will be asked if there are any new or worsening health issues.  This is to ensure that I can provide the absolute best handling practices for your dog while in my care.  Grooming can be very stressful, it can be very physically demanding and hard on seniors especially.  If at anytime during the groom Paws and Relax feels it is unsafe, services will be stopped and the owner will be notified. If it is serious or life threatening you be notified immediately and your dog will be transported to the nearest vet clinic( Bangor Vet Hospital)

Behavior

Dogs who need to be muzzled, who need full physical support, or who are overly difficult may have an additional handling fee added to the original service. If you know your dog has a trigger please let me know at check in.  I want your dog to be comfortable and to build trust with them! If at any time the groom becomes unsafe for myself or your pup, the service will stop and you will be asked to come for pick up. The dog's safety and wellbeing will always come before a haircut. I will never force a dog into something they cannot emotionally or mentally handle.  Positive associations are so important with grooming.

Fleas

Maintaining a clean and flea free environment is very important to us.  If fleas are found on your dog you will be informed and they will receive a flea treatment starting at $25 and can increase depending on infestation level, size of dog, and amount of coat.

Matting

Dogs who have severely matted coats take extra time, patience, and skill from their groomer in order to successfully and safely remove the matting.  I will not cause excessive stress or pain to your dog if the matting cannot be loosened.  In the case that your dog needs to be reset you will know before the groom begins. With extremely matted dogs the risk for nicks, abrasions, bruising, hematomas, skin irritation, etc. is higher.  Keeping your dog on a schedule specifically set for their skin/coat/lifestyle and desired haircut is very important to prevent a full reset

Cancellations and Rescheduling

In the event you need to cancel or reschedule I require a 48 hour notice. Failure to do so will result in 25% of the scheduled service to be paid prior to being able to rebook.  A non-refundable fee of 50% of the scheduled service will incur if you do not give notice of missing your appointment or if you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment.

No call/ no showing twice in a row will result in termination from my client list. A debit or credit card is required in order to reserve your appointment

Refunds and Satisfaction Guarantee

All sales are final.  It is very important to me that you are happy with your grooming experience at Paws and Relax.  If for any reason you are unhappy with the service you received please reach out within 24 hours of completion and I will do my best to resolve any issues.

Appointment Duration

Paws and Relax is a one on one salon. Meaning I work with one family at a time.  This creates a wonderfully low stress environment and really helps with bonding and trust building.  Most appointments last anywhere from thirty minutes to two hours per pet depending on their individual temperaments and needs. If it is the first visit with your dog it may be a bit longer as we are new to each other and typically additional time is needed for trust building.  I do ask that you wait for notice that your dog is ready. You are more than welcome to wait in the waiting area while we wrap up if you come in early.  Most dogs get case of wiggle butt when their owners come for pick up, and this can create a very dangerous moving target.
